Navaratri Golu & Fancy Dress Competition

Navaratri at OLIS is part display, part dressing-up box. The golu steps go up in the front foyer, and the auditorium is handed over to the children for our annual fancy dress competition.

The request we make of parents is a simple one: keep the costume comfortable and let the child do the talking. Every participant introduces their character in two or three sentences of their own. It is often the first time a four-year-old has spoken into a microphone, and it is the part of the morning we are proudest of.

Categories run separately for Pre-Primary and Primary. Judging looks at the child's own presentation as much as at the costume, so a hand-made outfit with a confident introduction will always score well.

Costume theme slips go home with students two weeks in advance. Parents are welcome to attend on both mornings.
